KATIE LEIGHTON is a veteran of the communications industry. Before founding Leighton Communications in 2001, Katie worked on both sides of the media.  Her career began with 10 years of covering the stories that would headline the local news as a TV news & sports producer, anchor, and reporter.  Working in television gave Katie a tremendous understanding of what news professionals are seeking.  An Emmy nominated TV producer, Katie created an outstanding contact list of fellow journalists and professional athletes that she has since put to use in PR.  This knowledge of the media and the relationships formed has translated into a successful career as a public relations & marketing professional.  Katie brings a level of energy, enthusiasm, and a “make it happen” attitude that delivers results for her clients.  She is proud of the long-standing relationships she keeps. Katie is a graduate of Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications.  She lives in Wilmington, DE with her husband and three children.
